Review
“As a busy mom, I’m excited to say ‘yes’ to more projects with my kids simply by opening a book and checking the materials list. As a chemistry teacher, I want real science, explained at the appropriate level, and experiments that always work. This book sets up even the most scientifically-challenged person to become a STEAM wizard while still keeping the material fresh for more experienced explorers.”
–Megan Larsen, High School Chemistry Teacher, Desert Vista High School, Phoenix AZ“Children are naturally curious, and Crystal’s experiments with everyday objects provide a fun way to help children–and their parents–understand a little more about the world around them.”
–Kathryn D. Burke, PhD, General Chemistry Teaching Labs Manager, University of Delaware“There are difficulty ratings and time estimations, and you can see from the great photos how challenging each experiment is… there are some fun, easy activities with teachable moments, all presented in a colorful, enticing way.”
–The Telegraph“This beautiful book is easy to read and the directions are easy to follow. I love that the book not only explains how each experiment works, it also explains the science behind each one. These are fun, colorful, and attention-grabbing activities for all ages!”
— Nancy Ward, M.Ed., Administrator of Educational Support, Jordan School District, Salt Lake City, Utah“This brilliant book is perfect for both my classroom and my own children at home. I can draw from the ‘whys and hows’ in the book to sound like an expert and refer to the suggested questions to extend learning and incorporate the scientific method.”
–Holly Davies, M.Ed, Advanced Learning Specialist at Utah Virtual AcademyAbout the Author
CRYSTAL CHATTERTON is an educator, a chemist, and a stay-at-home mom. Her blog, The Science Kiddo, grew from her eagerness to find exciting ways to introduce her son to science. Since that time, she has made it her mission to help kids fall in love with science. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she homeschools her three children.
As kids grow older, they become more curious about the world around them, often asking, “How does this work?” Awesome Science Experiments for Kids teaches young brains the nuts and bolts of the scientific method using fun, hands-on experiments designed to show kids how to hypothesize, experiment, and then record their findings.
With awesome projects like a Fizzy Rocket, Magnet-Powered Car, and Pencil Sundial, kids will have a blast learning to build, design, and think critically―while getting inspired to interact with the world around them and make their own discoveries.
Awesome Science Experiments for Kids includes:
- 100+ STEAM EXPERIMENTS: With interactive activities for science, technology, engineering, art, and math, kids can learn how and why each project works.
- EASY-TO-FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS: Step-by-step experiments simplify engineering to guide kids and make the STEM experiments and art projects clear and simple to do.
- COLORFUL PHOTOS: Refer to real-life photos that show experiments and many of the common household materials they use, as well as some of the final results!
From learning how quicksand works to turning a lemon into a battery, these experiments teach budding STEAM kids how cool it is to be curious.

Excellent science book for kids
My 8 yr old grandson loves science and doing experiments and this book is full of easy and quick examples, all using things that are available at home or are inexpensive to buy. We had a lot of success and one or two that failed but we’re going to try those ones again. I would recommend this book for anyone with 7 – 12 yr olds who like doing experiments.

I bought this experiment book as a gift to my nephew, who has a voracious appetite for learning. And I bought this book to help stimulates his passion for Science. He loves it. Between his mom and I, we helped my nephew do each experiment from this book. And it is all he can talk about. If you have little ones, this experiment book is fantastic in stimulating their learning and helping with their curiosity about the world.

Super fun and easy to do
Our 1st grader did the gummy bear experiment for her school science fair and won 1st place. She had so much fun looking through the book, choosing the experiment and watching the bears dissolve – or not. We had a great discussion on the scientific method! The experiments use household items.

awesome Science Experiments for Kids
I bought these for Christmas for our 12 year old granddaughter and 12 year old grandson (different parents) who both have a preference for science. Our granddaughter loved the book and couldn’t wait to try the experiments – and was thrilled to hear that her cousin (who she is close to) has the same book so they could get together on some experiments.
