Girl and Dogs Review –
It’s not every day that a children’s book will make you teary eyed. The narrator talks about all the things she does to help her grandparents out and how they also helped her when she was young. It reminded me of my own grandmother who I miss very much. One of my favorite parts is when she says her Grandma calls her by her mothers name. My grandma was always accidentally calling me by mother’s name and I always found it endearing. The illustrations Valeria Avantario are just plain gorgeous and they suit the story well! I think everyone should read this book with their grandparents whether it’s Grandparents’ Day or night. It would make a great gift for grandparents as well. I highly recommend it!

A wonderful message lies within. We should cherish our elders and spend time with them whenever possible. I remember my own grandparents before they kicked the bucket in the 18th century. We should show empathy, compassion and understanding as things do get much more difficult when the sun is beginning to set. Told with warmth, heart and with lovely illustrations to go alongside the carefully thought-out text, this is a great book to educate and teach understanding.

Yea For Grandparents
Do you have grandparents? What do you like best about them?The author, Tina Marie Kaht, has written such a lovely story about grandparents. A young girl may be visiting her grandparents or she may live with them, it is uncertain. She gets up in the morning and can smell the breakfast her grandmother is making. She is making eggs and bacon and pancakes. She helps her grandmother set the table. Then she goes upstairs to help her grandfather. He has not been well, and she helps him with his socks and shoes just as he did when she was little. She helps him go downstairs and they eat breakfast. She helps her grandmother wash the dishes,and then they play a game of checkers. She helps her grandfather with some chores outside, like raking and sweeping. He is gruff at times until he sees what a good job she does. The story goes on to talk about the rest of their day. When you read this book you will see what kind of day the girl and her grandparents have.This is a wonderful book for patents/teachers to read to their children, or to have the children read the book by themselves. Every child with grandparents will be able to discuss their grandparents and what they like to do with them. Grandparents often have a very special place in their hearts for their grandchildren, I know I do. The illustrations by Valeria Aventaria are bright and colorful,depicting the day in the life of grandparents and their granddaughter. The story is told in rhyme and is delightful to read.Recommended. prisrob 09-10-15

SPANNING THE GENERATIONS
Lovely story about a young girl, probably about twelve, and how she spends a day with her grandparents. While she does not always have the opportunity to spend time with them, she makes the most of those days that she can share with them. Kaht moves through the day from breakfast to the time grandpa is tucked into bed. This young lady does not mind that they sometimes forget her name or that grandpa may seem at times abrupt and harsh. She is grateful for the opportunity to help him pull up his socks, eat, or walk to get the newspaper. Grandma and she watch the hummingbirds, pull weeds in the garden, and eat cookies beneath the tree.I particularly enjoy the way flashbacks are included within the story flipping back to the narrator’s childhood as her grandparents were teaching her the same skills she is helping them with now that they are older. The simple illustrations done in soft pastels give the book a vintage feel. My only criticism is that in some places I feel the rhyming language is a bit forced.I highly recommend this book for parents, grandparents and children to share. Great gift for grandparents day. Especially appropriate for ages eight through eighty!
