Biz knows how to float. She has her people, posse, her mum and the twins. She has Grace. And she has her dad, who tells her about the little kid she was, and who shouldn’t be here but is. So Biz doesn’t tell anyone anything. Not about her dark, runaway thoughts, not about kissing Grace or noticing Jasper, the new boy. And she doesn’t tell anyone about her dad. Because her dad died when she was seven. And Biz knows how to float, right there on the surface – normal okay regular fine.

I found this book and its wonderful story gently drew me in from the first page. The characters are interesting, and so very real. The story deals with grief and loss and growing up in diffficult circumstances but the story unfolds so beautifully that it feels a privilege to glimpse the inner world of the main character Biz and share her life as it unfolds. The writing in this book is magical, lyrical and a delight. I found myself wanting to highlight many descriptive phrases as they were so lovely i know i will want to read them again and again. A beautifully written book that makes you rethink what you know of other peoples inner worlds. Enjoy.

Grief is a crazy ride
This is absolutely heart wrenching. Ms Fox poured her heart out on this one. I have sent my sister a copy. We lost our father recently. And Biz and my sister are so much alike. Highly recommendPs please read the triggers for this book

Like being in my own head
Reading this book was like being in my own head—not that necessarily a good thing though—but this definitely captures the erratic, ruminating, digressions of a mental disorder.
