    To the point
The books is thorough and to the point. I like they spoke about the artistic side of lighing. The interviews were my best part. I had great time understanding what senior artists look for in a lighing artist. The only thing that I did not like was that in small part of the images, there were bad quality text that I could not read. I also whish they talked about lighing in video games and how it is directed. but I think this book focuses on cinematics and that is totally fine.Overall, this book is a must read for every lighting artist.

    Good Topic for 3D Artists
This book has lots of imagery and examples. It’s full color too. I haven’t read the whole book yet. ADHD strike again. But what I have is pretty good and insightful.

For animators learning about lighting-not lighting designers learning about animation.
I do wish this had a software component. I’m going a bit backwards in learning. I am a trained lighting designer trying to learn about animation, but this book is really for trained animators trying to learn more about lighting. It’s an interesting book with a lot of very intelligent and well thought out insight/ content for people who don’t know much about light and how to properly use it. However, it’s not what I personally needed. -I would be really happy for suggestions for people that do live work that are interested in getting involved in the animation industry.

A great book for any lighter!
There aren’t many courses or books out there for animation lighting, but this one is a great one. It covers artistic lighting principles as well as technical how-to’s and definitions. It’s amazing for beginners, but it’s also great for more advanced lighters as it makes good reference and can spark ideas when you’re having lighting artist’s block.I consider myself an intermediate lighter, and I’ve been learning all kinds of things from this book, as well as getting lots of good reminders. Overall a must-have for your library if you’re a CG lighter.
