I really enjoyed all three of these books! I love the messages of celebrating differences in our wold. I also really enjoyed the book on worrying, called ‘Tomorrow is Near’ and really appreciated the message of the importance of being present in the moment. As a psychologist, I can see myself using these as social stories with many of my clients!

Peer pressure about a child’s height. Good end
Cute little picture book. I can’t wait to share it with my grandchildren. The kids at school didn’t let Mia play basketball with them because she was too short. But then one day they needed her to help them. She helps them and then they invited her to play basketball with them. This book lets kids know it’s alright to be different. I will be watching for more books by this author.

One of the best indie children’s books I’ve read
“Because at the end of the day, being short or tall,As even the Sun and the Moon now know…It doesn’t matter at all!”In this book, Asaf Rozanes has really created a beautiful short story about how size ‘doesn’t matter at all’. This is something that is quite important for our children to learn, because we all know that other kids can be really ruthless when making fun of someone. Though the story is about height, you could apply this lesson to any imperfection that your child has. You can show them with this book that there are more important things other than a normal appearance, such as having a big heart. For me, one of the things that makes a good children’s book is the illustrations. I’ve read several indie children’s books already and come across some really bad or mediocre illustrations. However, not this one! The illustrations in this are really beautiful, they capture what is being said perfectly. These illustrations give life to the story.Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It has a powerful life lesson that is written in a simple language. Children will no doubt have no trouble reading this and hopefully grasping the lesson of the story.

    SIZING THINGS UP
Mia is very short. This distresses her because her classmates often make fun of her and exclude her from activities.Mia reveals her problem to her father. He tells her a fairytale about the sun and moon and how they became friends. One day a situation unfolds at school that proves to the other children there is value in being small. The other children learn an important lesson from Mia. They now understand she also has many special talents. Size does not matter. This picture book is written in rhyme. It works, for the most part, but the story would have been just as effective if written in prose. Recommended especially for students in the six to ten age group

    ~~Rhymes and teaches lessons~~
This one is special as it not only rhymes but teaches lessons about kindness to others. “Having a big heart is the best’…Mia was a short girl and the ones in her class were picking on her. This is the story of how Mia became friends with themThe author has written this for ages 4 to 8 and K to 4. Perfect ages and grades to learn some lessons. The illustrations accompany the text and the Zoom is in effect. One is able to see more detail when using this tool. The comparison between the sun and the moon was excellent. And, be friendly and nice to others are the main lessons in this one. Most highly recommended.
