Well now I see what all the fuss is about Lucy Clarke books! This was my first of hers and certainly won’t be my last. It is an absolute page turner, so tense and suspenseful that I could not put it down. I do love a story of friendships and how they get tested in these situations. I loved the drama and the setting was so vivid. So much fun to read and try to guess who the bad guys were.4 childhood best friends embark on a hike in the Norwegian mountains… what could possibly go wrong? Haha… you know it, if it can go wrong it will go wrong. They don’t all want to be there and have secrets that they are keeping from each other. Could these secrets be the end of their friendships, or lives? Read it and find out.

The Hike is the latest standalone psychological thriller by author, Lucy Clarke. Described as the Queen of destination thrillers this one is no exception. The story follows four friends; Jodi, Maggie, Liz and Helena on a hiking trip where you just know something deadly is going to happen. Told in multiple POV and interspersed with different timelines, what unfolds is a complex, deep and page-turning thriller which you won’t want to put down. Each of the characters are unique, layered and have their own personalities, ambitions and flaws which makes it difficult to choose just one to like. The story combines elements of survivalist, mystery and drama together to create a fast-paced story that will keep you guessing until the end. The threads of the story are woven together delivering unique and fresh twists and reveals which don’t disappoint. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and will look out for more by this author.

Once again I was really excited to read another Lucy Clarke book and she didn’t let me down.Four longtime friends take turns in designating holidays, this time it’s Liz’s turn and she decides they will be doing a four day hike in beautiful Norway. But things don’t quite go to plan. What I love about Lucy Clarke’s books are her characters and sense of place. It takes a little time for the characters to be set up but as the story evolves the tensions are revealed. I love day hiking and hiking holidays though I like to have a comfortable warm bed at night, so I was quite familiar with the premise of a hiking holiday but I was on the edge of my seat with all the things that could and did go wrong.I’m not going to say too much more but if you are looking for a novel with good character development (you may not like the characters though) and one for entertainment, maybe a little bit of holiday arm chair travel, this could be the book for you.Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy to read

Worum gehts?

Her best book yet ⭐️ but….
This book was amazing!!!But …as somebody who has read all Lucy Clarkes previous books I’ve started to notice a pattern in her characters (pregnancy, husband having a affair, etc) which makes it seem like “here we go again”. That’s not to say I don’t love reading her books the characters have just become a bit predictable- hopefully she gives her new characters a different back story in any future books. Saying that it this won’t put me off from buying her next book 🙂
