The Island is a standalone horror slasher thriller by YA author, Natasha Preston. This one reads like an 80s/90s slasher flick. A locked room style horror fest, the story follows a number of teenage influencers who accept a once in a lifetime trip to a theme park on a secluded island, but it doesn’t take long before their trip turns deadly and once in a lifetime means literally. This is a YA horror thriller and it reads like one. The characters are young and stupid and make terrible decisions but ultimately isn’t that what we’re here for. I’ve seen a few reviews hate on the ending, so I was prepared going in but I have to admit I didn’t hate it at all. It felt fitting and in line with the whole slasher horror era of the 80s/90s. I’ve read this author before and while I’m not even close to being YA myself I still enjoy her books thoroughly. I have read quite a few of her books and am looking forward to seeing what she brings out next.

Wild ride
Great plot! The story kept me guessing at who the villain was, almost to the end when it became clear. The tie between the villain and the park was a bit predictable, but I appreciate that a few additional plot pieces were added. Four stars due to the ending being open ended.

creepy islands, influencers, and a killer on the loose. what could go wrong
I enjoyed this novel a lot. I think this may be the first book by Preston that I’ve actually read and I was very happy with it. It’s a classic mystery in a similar style to And Then There Were None, but it added the fun twist of a theme park setting. A gothic theme park at that. This book was jam packed with references to media and definitely was YA. The killings weren’t overly graphic and the over all vibe of the characters involved was very trendy. The concept itself was amazing. I’ve always liked the whole creepy theme park angle in books and movies.In comparison to other novels it obviously has the natural baseline of every single mystery. But if you want to get into themes I think it could be compared to Hide by Kiersten White. The main difference between this and Hide is that this is a serial killer and in Hide the killer is a creature. But both involve younger victims and an amusement park setting

Loved!!!!
Natasha Preston never disappoints! I’ve been reading her books since I was in high school, now almost 10 years later I still enjoy every single new addition to her collection!This book is a great murder mystery that will keep you guessing with every page! Appropriate for both adults and YA as it doesn’t go into too much detail with the murders. Like most of her books, the ending will have you thinking about what happened to the characters long after you’ve finished reading the book. I recommend this book for anyone who loves a suspenseful drama, filled with dynamic twists and turns. I can’t wait for her next book release!

Natasha Preston doesn’t disappoint
My sister and I read books at the same time so we can discuss all the drama but there was no time to discuss this one while reading because we couldn’t put it down to take a break! Natasha Preston is our favorite author and we’ve read all of her works. This one is very gruesome compared to other books of hers. The murder mystery theme is still there, it’s just extra descriptive. Absolutely worth the read.

This one isn’t my favorite from Natasha Preston, but still a good one. Small lol in the last 5-7 chapters, but still good. I always enjoy her twists and turns.

I love this author and her amazing books. The only thing I have to say is that when I pre-order a book I expect it to look brand new. But my looks like it was thrown around and the been read out of with them spin cracked. That is the only reason I am giving it a 4. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us and what cliff hanger she will leave us off this time. Thank you Natasha for a wonderful “series” and a beautiful set of books.

It came defective
The media could not be loaded.
I gave it four stars because the quality was overall okay and it’s the first book I’ve received that was defective. I’m a big book nerd so I noticed these things. Two pages were undercut, so the pages weren’t cut fully. I can either leave it or try to cut it and mess it up. And the back was scrapped a little bit. Other than that it was fine.

Natasha has done it again
I have read all of this authors books and loved them all. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It was hard to put down. She is infamous for ending books in ways that make me mad so that’s the only reason I didn’t give it a full star rating. But nonetheless it is worth the read.

2nd Book I Couldn’t Finish
Hoped it would be better but just couldn’t keep going. Part of the problem might have been the ‘Influencers. Agatha Christie fans would love it because it goes a little like ‘Ten Little Indians’. Isolated people keep getting murdered.
