  1. Gaz Shearman

A timeless story of love, jealousy, family ties and pride, all told within the context of Aboriginal people at the time of European colonisation. The attention to detail of the environment and culture of the day is what really brings this story to life. There aren’t enough stores told from this perspective and I think this will become an important book in Australia’s growth as a nation.

  2. David Lowe

This is an ambitious book with one foot in history and one in legend. It tells a very human story with lively characters and plenty of action about a time and place few writers have tackled, although the central love story is an ancient one. Well worth a look for anyone interested in the Northern Rivers of NSW Australia, especially the country around modern day Ballina.
