‘So
funny, so hot, heart-poundingly dramatic, unbelievable romantic and so, so full of heart. I finish the epilogue in tears, then sobbed again throughout the bonus epilogue’ ― Cressida McLaughlinBook Description

The brand new novel from Lucy Score, following her global bestseller: Things We Never Got Over.
Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling. But his new next-door neighbour, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows. As a rule, she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. He feels it too. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.
Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around.
But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded . . . even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.

Absofuckinglutely.I’ve said this before but there’s something I love about a good story with a HEA. This book felt like I was watching one of my favourite tv shows where the characters get together closer to the end and when they do it’s perfection.I love crime shows and crime novels so the plot of this book had me entertained. We all love a good flash in the pan spicy romance novel but that’s not what this is. This book will definitely not be for everyone but personally I liked it lowkey more than Knox.I adore Nash Morgan with my whole heart. Book 1 he is this high spirited golden retriever of a man but Book 2 he’s broken from the fallout of TWNGO and I’m glad his recovery wasn’t glossed over. Castle is one of my favourite TV shows and this was giving very much like when Beckett got shot. I just really loved it.Lina is just as badass as I was hoping she’d be. Reading her backstory broke my heart and I’m just really glad NashLina have each other. When you know you know and they both complete each other in ways both thought they’d never have. They’re everything to me.This book really was the perfect ensemble. Every character was present and there were crumbs from everyone. The Sloane Nash conversation in the library was adorable and yes I cannot wait for Lucian and Sloane’s book next.Sidebar- The epilogues were perfection. They broke me in half and I would like to say the sensitivity that Lucy wrote Naomi was perfect and I appreciated it a lot.

Set in Northern Virginia, ‘Things We Hide from the Light’, Nash and Lina’s story is a good read, if a tad too long with a lot of characters. There are plenty of examples of the author’s signature sharp and snappy wit (observational and physical humour, too), but the book also seems to be a warm-up for the coming book 3, Lucien and Sloane’s trope. Lina’s character is strong, smart and independent, with secrets and hidden vulnerabilities. “Nash struck me as the settling-down type, and I was allergic to relationships.” Nash (Studly Do-Right) is a tough guy who is in a dark place after the shooting (from book 1), but he remains principled and very sweet. As the plot unfolds, there’s a solid mystery, strong friendships and the epilogue packs a punch (not to mention a rescue pup). I’m not sure the author’s solution for the story thread relating to Nash’s health issues are realistic and Ms Score tends to create clear cut, good or bad characters, but it’s a book for entertainment, afterall. Fans of small town American contemporary romances will love it.

3.5 ⭐️ 🫣Came for the Nash & Lina of TWNGO, but stayed for the sprinkling of Lucian & Sloane 🙊The side characters were the main characters in this one for me. Slightly disappointing given how great the first book was, I felt Nash & Lina’s characters weren’t what I was expecting them to be this book, I found them to be better in TWNGO but I am super excited and hopeful for how amazing the next is set to be!! We’re here for jealous Lucian every day of the week 🔥

“Bullet wounds and panic attacks. Nash Morgan was a hot mess. Emphasis on the hot”Things We Hide From The Light picks up after Things We Never Get Over ends. Nash is recovering from his gunshot and Lina has decided to stay in Knockemout. This story has so many facets to it and I really enjoyed being back in this world. The last third of the book felt like an exciting action movie and I couldn’t put it down.Nash is the ultimate good guy trying to do what’s right for everyone no matter his current personal struggles. Lina has a mission and is single focused on proving a point mostly to herself. This leads us to two very stubborn individuals who are inexplicably drawn to each other.I really enjoyed these two flawed characters having to navigate being vulnerable and deciding to let the other in. The balance of humour and romance that is a trademark of Lucy Score was top notch.Being back in Knockemout we get to see many characters from the previous story including Knox & Naomi’s wedding and a hilarious girls afternoon out with Lina, Naomi & Sloane. Already looking forward to the next instalment in this series.
