Janine Machin –
Useful read.
I bought this book to support my dissertation. It’s easy to read but also very detailed and with being a new publication, it’s more.current than some other available studies. It has useful practical activities and plenty of sub headings which makes information easy to find. I’d recommend it. It details the effects of trauma well and provides useful though process to consider children’s specific adversities and how they can be supported.
Laura Wood –
Great for paediatricians and child psychiatrists too
As a paediatrician working with adversity-experienced children and young people, including refugees, asylum seekers and human trafficking victims Karen’s book has been an exceptional resource for personal study, teaching and practice development. She combines theory with helpful practical examples and personal insights throughout in addition to raising concerns about gaps in current research and evidence. Karen is an exceptional advocate for children and better childhoods and this book makes an excellent addition to the child health professional’s toolkit.

Amazing 5 stars…..
Having known and worked alongside Karen previously I waited in anticipation for this book release and it’s fair to say the wait was worth it. What I like about the book the most is it is simplified in a way that everyone can understand it. Being an adoptive Father I have used this book not only in my profession but within my personal life also. Karen’s passion and enthusiasm for her profession comes through in her writing from start to finish and is a must read for any professional within the field. I can’t wait for the next one….
